Founded in 2020, Stegra was created with the purpose to decarbonize hard-to-abate industry. We're leading a clean industrial revolution, starting with steel.
Abatement refers to reducing carbon emissions – while still producing the same products. Hard-to-abate industries rely heavily on fossil fuels, making emissions cuts more challenging. Those are the industries we will tackle. And we are starting with steel, to show that it is possible.
Our first plant is under construction in Boden in northern Sweden. We’re on track to produce green steel by 2026, using green hydrogen and green iron to slash emissions by up to 95%. But this is just the start. We want to limit the carbon footprint of other heavy industry sectors, as well. A green future is possible, and we’re making it happen.
We are building a diverse and rapidly growing team spread across our site and offices in Boden and Stockholm, targeting close to 1500 employees during 2025. Together, we focus on delivering green impact – for our people, customers, investors, society and planet.
