Meet Jenny Marin – Head of logistics
When the first trains loaded with raw materials roll into Boden, Jenny Marin will know exactly how much work it took to get them there. And when the first vessel leaves port carrying Stegra’s steel to customers, it will be another milestone years in the making.
Originally from Stockholm, Jenny spent much of her career in the automotive industry, working across logistics, supply chain development, sustainability and business development. She first heard about Stegra – then H2 Green Steel – when the CEO of her previous company announced that he was leaving to join the new venture. Curious about what was being built in Boden, she started reading about the plans and quickly realized that this was something she wanted to be part of.
Jenny had already been involved in shaping the sustainability agenda within logistics at her previous company. At Stegra, she saw an opportunity to take that ambition further, and to make a tangible impact while building something entirely new.
“It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. How often do you get the chance to build a logistics operation of this scale from the ground up, while helping transform one of the world’s most carbon-intensive industries?”
Building the routes to and from Boden
Today, Jenny works in Logistics development, helping answer a question that sounds simple enough: how do we get everything we need into Boden – and our steel out to customers?
In reality, the answer involves rail, ports, vessels, train wagons, barge, trucks, digital systems, partners, and countless processes that all need to work together. And because Stegra is building a new operation from the ground up, there isn’t a ready-made logistics setup to step into. It has to be designed alongside everything else.
That’s also what Jenny enjoys most about the job. One day might involve railway infrastructure or wagons, another a new process or digital solution, negotiations with a logistics partner, or working out how a coil of steel will make its way from Boden to a customer somewhere in Europe.
The variety means there is always something new to learn, often alongside colleagues and partners with very different backgrounds and expertise. But behind all the different challenges is the same goal: making sure raw materials reach production and Stegra’s products reach customers – and building the logistics needed to support a new way of making steel.
From plans on paper to steel on the move
For Jenny, the most exciting part is still ahead. After years of planning, designing and solving problems, she is looking forward to seeing the system they have built start moving for real.
“The first trains arriving at our site with raw materials, and the first vessel leaving port with our products on their way to customers – I think that’s when we’ll really see what we’ve built come to life.”
