“Coming from India where it’s hot, it was of course an adjustment to move to Boden. Here, summers are almost endlessly bright, while winters are cold and offer only a few hours of light. But we are getting used to it. My son is adapting to the cold and playing in the snow, and the next step is to try skiing!

Before I came to H2 Green Steel, I had worked with direct-reduced iron (DRI) for 12 years made with hydrogen from natural gas- or syngas-based DRI. Of course, I had heard of green hydrogen-based DRI and its status as “the future”. Working with modern technology to decarbonize the steel industry was tempting, and that’s one of the reasons I joined H2 Green Steel. Back then, there were around 50 employees. Now we are growing so fast, but it feels like we are keeping the same culture and people are nice.

I was previously working in Algeria and my family was still back in India. It’s important to spend time with your kids, especially when they are small. So we decided to move to Sweden as a family in 2022. My youngest daughter was born here in October, and I am planning to take some parental leave this summer. Things here in Sweden are very systemized. The work-life balance is much better than I had before. It’s amazing to me.”
